Terapia is the most important company of generic medicines and OTC products in Romania and, at the same time, the longest surviving brand active in the local pharmaceutical market.
When we say Terapia, we say history, tradition and experience: founded in 1921, the company became the first holder of a certificate of good manufacturing practice issued in Romania, in 1999, but also the first local pharmaceutical manufacturer with its own center for clinical studies of bioequivalence, in 2002.
At the moment, Terapia exports drugs to 25 countries and produces 93 million boxes of medicines annually, having a complex product portfolio, from multiple therapeutic areas: cardiovascular system, central nervous system, musculoskeletal system, systemic anti-infectious, antineoplastic and immunomodulators, respiratory system, digestive tract and metabolism etc.
With a team of over 800 passionate people, starting March 2015, Terapia has become part of Sun Pharma Group, the fourth largest generic and specialized pharmaceutical company in the world and the leader of the pharmaceutical market in India.

Sun Pharma has had an upward trajectory since the beginning, from 1983, and became the first and most valuable pharmaceutical company in India, based on market capitalization. Our business has grown mostly organically, but over time, we have expanded our activity through partnerships, agreements, collaborations and acquisitions. The most important acquisition was announced in March 2015, when Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, including Terapia, became part of Sun Pharma Group. From that moment, the commercial name of our subsidiary in Romania became Terapia - a SUN PHARMA company.
Today, the global presence of Sun Pharma is supported by 44 production facilities located on 6 continents, research and development centers worldwide and a multicultural team, consisting of 32,000 people and over 50 nationalities. The company promotes excellence through innovation, having a team of more than 2000 scientists and investing approximately 7% of the turnover in research and development activities annually.
